I started Ski PT because I truly believe you can get in great shape for life both on and off the slopes PLUS become the best skier you can be!

It’s easy to get stuck in a rut when it comes to skiing; you stop progressing. Why does that happen? Especially when progressing, isn’t really that hard.  I get it! It’s challenging to do it alone, to figure this all out. Fortunately, I’m in a unique position to help you when it comes to achieving your goals both on and off the slopes.

I was a Biology major at Colby College and got my Master’s of Physical Therapy at USC. Then after years of clinical work, I taught Biomechanics and Anatomy to Physical Therapy students.  Physical Therapist’s are trained to understand how humans move and how they learn new movement patterns (a fancy way of saying I understand how we learn new skill in things like skiing).

Growing up I was a recreational skier; I loved our family ski vacations.  When I became a parent I wanted our children to learn to ski. During that time, I frequently took the position of “clean up crew”: going last to make sure everyone was safe.  As my children grew I began to notice I was still in the “clean up crew” spot but it was because my children had gotten far more comfortable and faster than me on skis!

I decided I needed to do something so they’d continue skiing with me as they got better. THE SOLUTION: I became a ski instructor, to take advantage of all the amazing learning that comes with that job.  I used my PT knowledge to accomplish two things 1) to understand what I needed to change in my skiing technique to improve and 2) to get in great shape for skiing and for an active life. I also kept in mind all the clients I had seen in clinic AFTER they injured themselves skiing. I wanted to avoid injuries so I made sure to focus my attention on prevention too.

My goal is to share ALL of this with you, so you can achieve your goals and become the best skier you can be PLUS get in great shape for life both on and off the slopes!
